Pro 4:20 My son, give attention to my words; (Jesus said: “I only say what I hear my father say”) Incline your ear to my sayings. 21 Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart; 22 For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh. 23 Guard your heart with all diligence, For out of it comes the substance of life. This is far more powerful than most people thought. Mixing grace with the law, is discounting the finished work of the cross and speaks contrary to what the Father says about us.
Pro 4:23 Guard your heart with all diligence, for out of it flows life. Our heart health starts with love. The finished work of the cross reveals our innocence, which produces peace, and a overflowing joy. This life in us has comes from our discovery of our complete redemption which results in health and wholeness. Feed on the gospel, for it is life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh. (Pro 4:22)
Sometimes people find the Gospel too good to be true. It is too good and it is true, believe what God says about you, and enjoy the transformation. Self condemnation hinders christians and puts them back on the “performance to qualify” track more than anything, going from grace (His love for you,) back to the law (trying to earn through works righteousness) what Jesus has already done for you.
