Yesterday we spoke about entering His rest. Today let’s talk about impatience, an indicator that you are probably not at rest. We live in a “I want it now” fast food society, where if our meal takes over 5 minutes to get to us, we are ready to give someone a piece of our mind, the piece no one wants by the way. Impatience says it is not possible or its probably not going to happen, rest says all things are possible. The definition of Hope is “a positive expectation of good in your future.” Websters dictionary defines impatience as: “restlessness or the absence of expected good.”
“restlessness” no rest, “absence of expected good” no hope. Jeremiah 29:11 tells us what God’s ongoing thoughts toward us are and He wants to give you a future and a hope.
Jesus came to bring you hope and provide for you true rest. My friend you can have a confident expectation of good in your future because Jesus finished the work of redemption and has made provision for everything you will ever need. Because Jesus took your place at the cross, all of God’s anger was exhausted on the body of Jesus on the cross, so you can rest knowing that you are forgiven, and God will never ever be angry with you. He is not holding out on you.
What is it that has made you restless or impatient? Romans 8:32 (Amplified Bible) “He who did not withhold or spare [even] His own Son but gave Him up for us all, will He not also with Him freely and graciously give us all [other] things?” How could He possibly be holding anything out on you, He gave heavens best. Many times when you feel unloved or distanced you feel anxious and restless. Understand you are the object of His love, you are seated in heavenly place with Christ Jesus. You are in Christ, in the most Holy place! Wow! It doesn’t get any better than this! You might say “Evan, I don’t feel like it though.” your feelings do not change the truth about you, you are righteous, (innocent, guiltless, and faultless) you must see yourself and think of yourself the way God sees and thinks of you. He is not mad at you, He is mad about you!
All the promises of God in Him are yes and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us (1 Corinthians 2:20). You see, He wants you blessed in everything you do, He wants you healed, whole and at rest.
Don’t let the cares of the world choke the word and make it unfruitful in your life. When the word is unfruitful it isn’t working! We want to bear fruit, and Mark 5:20 tells us just exactly how to do it! But these are the ones sown on good ground (gospel of grace), those who hear the word, receive it, and bear fruit: some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred.
Gods three step success plan, 1 hear the gospel of grace, 2 receive it, 3 and bear fruit. Religion has made it hard when it is so easy. Now go bear fruit today, and reign in life as a King!
